Université de Bordeaux

Why choose us?

Since 1959, the University of Bordeaux has developed great expertise and ambition in terms of research on the African continent, in particular in terms of development economics and public health. This focus is illustrated by the Bordeaux Summer Schools "COVID-19 in Africa: multidisciplinary insights" (2020) and "African cities in 2030" (2021), as well as the university’s Master and PhD diplomas, research centers and leading research programs dedicated to action for Africa.

This summer school builds on a previous international event in June 2019, "Toward a non-hegemonic world sociology", co-organized by Eric Macé and Stéphane Dufoix and supported by the French National Center for Scientific Research and the University of Bordeaux Initiative of Excellence. The event brought together a large number of authors for an international discussion on these same issues of postcolonial globalization of social and human sciences.
